Adventure Biking: What it Entails & How to Start
Using the trails least travelled is what an adventure is all about! The concept of adventure biking primarily uses a mix of gravel roads and dirt roads with dirt bikes to explore spots that are otherwise difficult to explore.
Minnesota Adventure Trails LLC offers maps to unique adventures using forest and gravel roads with routes such as “Al Capone Hideouts”, “Fire Tower Trails”, and “Forgotten Bridges”. These maps also include stop-off points that are easily accessible from the trails for a bite to eat, a place to camp, or even just spots with an exceptional view!

How to Start
- Step 1: In order to legally access forest & gravel public roads on a dirt bike, a rider would need a motorcycle registration from the DMV, and there is a separate type of registration required if the rider is from out of state.
- Step 2: Find your route! It can be easy to get lost when using backroads, especially with less signage to guide riders as they go. However, apps like Avenza and Onx which Minnesota Adventure Trails LLC utilizes for their maps, are quite handy! Just find the route that best suits you, purchase & download it, and then follow it like an itinerary.
See for yourself what adventures are already mapped out and waiting for riders to explore it! Who needs roads, anyways? We also have more info about off roading on the Iron Range for those who enjoy adventures like this as well, check it out.
