Chisholm
Chisholm is a community of 5,000 that’s built, in part, around the lovely Longyear Lake.
Home to historic hot spots
This friendly town makes the most of history with a pair of museums.
Minnesota Discovery Center is a 660-acre museum with indoor and outdoor exhibits for kids and special activities like monthly Family Discovery Days, plus a mini-golf course, summer music events in the amphitheater and a vintage trolley.
Nearby the Museum of Mining offers an up-close look at mining equipment, including the massive production trucks, and delves into Chisholm history.
Roadside attractions and events add to Chisholm’s flair
A tribute to all branches of military veterans can be found in Chisholm, along with the famous Bridge of Peace and the iconic Iron Man Statue. Chisholm is known as the site of festive events like the Doc “Moonlight” Graham Days and the St. Louis County Fair.
Make your way to Lake Street
Community involvement is alive and well in Chisholm. Northern Traxx ATV Club is a huge asset for the community. They’ve worked hard to build an ATV trail system and promote club rides and youth training classes. The city is also fortunate to have the Downtown Revitalization Project bringing fresh ideas and a touch of culture to Chisholm’s iconic Lake Street. This group created a historic walking tour, helped enhance Kiwanis Park near the Longyear Lake shore, and developed a pocket park further up the street, complete with artwork and programming. An interpretive site at Bruce Mine Headframe, along the Mesabi Trail, is a great way to see one of the few remaining underground mine shafts.
