Plan Your Trip to Giants Ridge This Summer
Mountain Adventures, Scenic Views & Family Fun on Minnesota’s Iron Range
Summer at Giants Ridge Recreation Area is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons yet. Beginning May 22, visitors can experience expanded mountain biking, outdoor recreation, live events, and family-friendly activities in the heart of northeastern Minnesota’s Iron Range.
Surrounded by the beauty of the Superior National Forest, Giants Ridge has evolved into far more than a winter ski destination. Today, it’s a warm-weather playground packed with opportunities to explore, relax, and reconnect outdoors.

Start Your Adventure on the Mountain
A perfect summer day at Giants Ridge might begin with a scenic chairlift ride overlooking forests, lakes, and historic mine country before heading out to explore the resort’s growing trail systems.
Mountain biking is one of the biggest draws of the season. The lift-served mountain bike park features gravity-fed downhill trails alongside miles of cross-country terrain for riders of varying abilities. New for 2026, the resort is adding two Enduro-style trails designed for riders looking for longer descents and more technical challenges.
Visitors can also:
- Rent downhill, cross-country, or e-bikes
- Take lessons through the Mountain Sports School
- Join beginner-friendly clinics and youth programs
- Explore family-focused Mother–Daughter biking sessions
Women riders can also participate in the expanding “Ride Like a GRL!” retreats, which combine coaching, progression, and community-building weekends on the trails.

Beyond Biking: A Full Summer Itinerary
While biking may headline the season, there’s plenty more to experience across the resort.
Guests can spend afternoons:
- Hiking scenic forest trails

After a full day outdoors, the slope-side Burnt Onion Kitchen and Brews or Wacootah Grille offer a perfect place to unwind with food and drinks overlooking the mountain or Mine Lake.
