Whether you’re mountain biking or riding the long haul on the Mesabi Trail there always needs to be something to do while not on the trails. So let’s go over some great chances to go directly from you ride to concerts and mini performances complete with drinks and food, all directly off of the trail!

Concerts and Cookouts at Minnesota Discovery Center

For riders at the Redhead MTB Park there is the Red Dirt Concert Series as well as Band, Brews & BBQ at the Minnesota Discovery Center. The concert series has several dates remaining in 2024 with performances from Arrival from Sweden – The Music of ABBA, The Tamburitzans, Jo Dee Messina, and Marshall Charloff & Purple Xperience! The semi-weekly Bands, Brews & BBQ event features food and local artists playing at the Minnesota Discovery Center campus on Thursdays. It’s a perfect chance for riders in need of some bike maintenance to stop by the 30 West Bike shop and grab a bite & some drinks, all while enjoying some local tunes!

Finish Line Food Trucks and Tunes

Mesabi Trail riders will love these mini-concerts that are right off the trail!

Plan your trail ride to pass through Olcott Park at 6PM on a Tuesday to catch the Concerts in Olcott Park series. With food trucks, a beautiful, public, outdoor venue that is directly on the Mesabi Trail it absolutely be a highlight of your journey and a perfect chance to relax after a long stretch of biking.

Also in Virginia, MN is the Summer Street Shows outside of The Sugar Shack on Chestnut Street. Plan to pass through downtown Virginia on a Thursday at 6PM for a downtown concert right outside of one of the best pizza spots on The Range; because carb loading is important for long bike rides!

Rockin’ at The Ridge

The annual Rock The Ridge concert returns on August 16^th to Giants Ridge! Spend a day on the cross country & lift-served gravity trails and top it off with a concert by the chalet with drinks and the mouth watering flavors from the Burnt Onion Kitchen. Mesabi Trail riders will find Giants Ridge directly off of the trail as well and should plan to pass through Giants Ridge at 6PM on this date for a finish line treat.

Trail riding isn’t always about the destination, but having something to look forward to at the end of the line is a great reward for a great ride. It takes planning, a bit of foresight, and even a bit of luck for things to line up perfectly & create a phenomenal experience; but it is always worth it when, at the end of the line, the stars align in your favor and you get an experience that you and your fellow riders will never forget!
