As you enter the museum grounds, you’ll be greeted by an impressive array of mining equipment that once played a key role in shaping the Iron Range. Get ready to:
- Climb into the cab of a massive 1907 steam locomotive
- Explore a rare 1910 steam shovel, similar to those used to dig the Panama Canal

As you walk through the dimly lit passages, you’ll get a sense of what it was like for miners working in the depths of the earth. It’s as close as you can get to feeling like a real Iron Range miner without donning a hard hat and pickaxe!
Experience Life in a Mining Town
