Bennett Park & Al Nyberg Field
Bennett Park is located at 3rd Avenue East and 13th Street. It is a 34-acre park founded in the 1920’s is one of Hibbing’s oldest parks. The signature park includes a playground, splash pad, multiple athletic fields, horseshoe & bocce courts, basketball court, and 3 shelters available for rent. This park is used extensively from May to September and is bustling with activity every day of the week. This is also the headquarters of our park maintenance facilities.
Splash Pad
Built in 2019, the City of Hibbing constructed a new splash pad in Bennett Park that is 100% handicap accessible and open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The amenity features a seating area for parents and grandparents to watch their children play. Located adjacent to the water play area are restrooms and a pavilion with tables and chairs.
Al Nyberg Field
Within Bennett Park sits one of the most beautiful wooden grandstand ballparks in the region, Al Nyberg Field. Nyberg Field is the home to many local teams including an Amateur team, Hibbing High School teams, American Legion baseball, and VFW teams.
Bocce Courts
Hibbing Bocce Club also call Bennett Park Home. The Bocce Club cares for and maintains 2 indoor bocce courts and 2 outdoor bocce courts. Leagues are matches are played weekly. All outdoor courts are free to use and open to the public.
Horseshoe Courts
Hibbing Horseshoe Club is hosted in Bennett Park. Two nights of league play are available on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Thursday night a special needs league also plays. This is a family oriented club located on the north side of Bennett Park. Those interested in playing for tournaments are put into brackets according to ability. Hibbing Little League
Hibbing Little League Inc. is proud to call Bennett Park home. With their own field dedicated to youth baseball, Hibbing Little League offers baseball programs for Hibbing residents from twelve years old and younger. The field plays host to weekly league games, practices, and also hosts multiple youth tournaments in June and July.
Miracle League of the Iron Range
In conjunction with the City Service Department of the City of Hibbing, the Hibbing Little League program, and various community members, the Miracle League of the Iron Range has been formed. In joint cooperation with the Minnesota Twins, the Miracle Field was completed in 2014.
