Enjoy Eye-Popping Autumn Colors on The Range

There’s nothing as breathtaking as watching nature in action, and Autumn on The Range is a perfect example. Our vast overlooks, dense forests, and sprawling trail systems make The Range a premiere destination for visitors to witness some eye popping autumn colors. But where and when can the best views be found? Here are four great suggestions to get an eyeful of color this Fall!

#1: Giants Ridge

Giants Ridge in Biwabik is an excellent spot for a truly phenomenal view! Visitors can take their chairlift to the top of The Ridge and soak in a full horizon of the Superior National Forest in its full Autumn glory. The absolute best time for this would be late September as Giants Ridge holds their Oktoberfest event so that fall color seekers can also enjoy some brews at the overlook along with music & food!

#2: Skibo Vista

There is also Skibo Vista just outside Hoyt Lakes along the Superior National Forest Scenic Byway. Skibo Vista has a view spanning over 30 miles of the Superior National Forest from the former fire tower site. Visitors may also catch a glimpse of migrating hawks from this location as well!

#3: Thomas Rukavina Memorial Bridge

The bridge view in Virginia is easy to catch while driving across, however, visitors who really want to soak in the beauty can get to the bridge on foot very easily too! Using the nearby Mesabi Trail trailhead at the end of Chestnut Street in downtown Virginia, visitors can take a 15 minute hike on paved trail that will take them directly to the Rukavina Bridge to truly enjoy the view and get some unbelievable photos as well!

#4: Redhead Mountain Bike Park

Lastly, for these three picks at least, there is the Redhead MTB Park in Chisholm. Whether sightseers are getting there on foot, ATV, or mountain bike the rolling landscape of the former mining pit offers various vistas of fall color to enjoy. By ATV there is a rocky peninsula that is accessible by trail that will take riders out near the center of the pit where they will be surrounded by Autumn cliffsides and strikingly blue waters. Mountain bikers and hikers can reach “The Secret Garden” trail or “The Rim” which both offer stunning views of the park.
