Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm is Minnesota’s museum of the Iron Range. Through indoor and outdoor exhibits, this museum and 660 acres of land explores the history, people and the mines of the region.
Lots to See, Lots to Do at Minnesota Discovery Center
Ride the vintage trolley to a mining ghost town, play mini-golf on the mining-themed course, or take part in many special activities from Family Discovery Days to outdoor concerts and more. There’s something for all ages, year-round.
Exhibits Tell a Fascinating Story
Indoor exhibits cover the immigrant journey to mine this region in the late 1800s through early 1900s, and the stories of the Native people who first settled this land. Learn about the geology of the region, and find out how early mining towns were formed.
Admission ranges from $5 to $12; trolley is extra and is $6 per person. If you like hiking or need to stretch your legs, the trails of Redhead Mountain Bike Park are accessible here and offer great views of a reclaimed open pit mine.
