Ride, Paddle & Explore with Guy’s Gallivants

Guy’s Gallivants is the Iron Range’s newest outdoor outfitter and your guide to kayaking, mountain biking and more in northern Minnesota.

Matthias Norenberg, “Guy,”  is a lifelong Iron Range resident and outdoor recreation enthusiast. Active in the mountain bike community, Guy has  taken his love of cycling and the joy he finds in connecting people with the outdoors and created Guy’s Gallivants.

“I was inspired by seeing the reactions from people I see on the trails,” he said. “When I talk with people and help them learn about our trails and what to see and do before and after their ride, they get excited. It’s something I love to do.”

Matthias Norenberg, creator of Guy’s Gallivants, rides at Redhead Mountain Bike park with fellow trail ambassador, Delle Eliason.

“So Much Potential”

Guy’s services include shuttling people using the Mesabi Trail from the end of their ride back to their cars or vice versa. He also coordinates mountain bike rentals and offers guided mountain bike rides at Redhead Mountain Bike Park and other nearby systems.

As a trail ambassador for the all-bikes collaboration, Ride the Range, Guy is very familiar with mountain bike trail systems in the region and happy to share his knowledge.

“I’m just happy to be getting people back to the basics of getting outdoors,” he said. “Every time I get on a bike, I reconect with 13-year-old Matthias and that freedom I felt. And I see it in other people, too. It’s just rewarding to be part of that.”

Kayak rentals and guided kayak tours are also part of Guy’s mix of services. Find five of his favorite routes on his website. He’s also offering custom fall color kayak tours, starting when the leaves change.

With an audience that ranges from locals to visitors, corporate outings and special interest groups, Guy hopes to tap into a collective longing to challenge ourselves in a safe, supportive environment. “We just want to remove any barriers that exist for people,” he said. “There’s so much potential with the types of groups and people we can work with. We invite everyone to Gallivant with us.”

Questions? Just Ask Guy!

Guy loves to talk about trails: paved, mountain bike, water and more. He’s turning his thoughts to winter, with fat bike riding and snowshoeing.

With a service area that stretches along the Mesabi Trail corridor and as far south as the Alborn area, Guy is looking forward to seeing where his new venture takes him.
