Your Holiday Itinerary for the First Week of December

With the first weekend of December (and some pretty amazing activities) behind us, let’s look ahead to December 6-10 and see what kind of holiday fun is happening around the Range.

Wednesday, December 6

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Visit Irma’s Finland House in Virginia with a special sale to mark “Little Christmas” in Finland. Celebrate “Pikkujoulu” with shopping and tasting at this iconic Iron Range gift store.

6 p.m. – The mocktails will flow at The Burnt Onion at Giants Ridge. Enjoy a perfectly paired meal with delicious mocktails for just $40.

Thursday, December 7

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – A very special Holiday Market will be held at Virginia’s Market Square featuring local makers and growers in an outdoor shopping experience on the shore of Silver Lake.

1:00-4:00 p.m. – Borealis Art Guild in Hibbing will help you make a snowflake pendant in this pre-holiday event designed to give you a present for someone special, or yourself. What a great way to tune out the bustle and recharge!

3:00-7:00 p.m. – Say hi to Santa, ride in a horse-drawn wagon, sample holiday treats and enjoy performances by the Hibbing City Band and Crescendo Youth Orchestra at the Hibbing Public Library.

Friday, December 8

9:30 a.m. to Noon – Learn how to make strudel at the Hibbing Tourist Senior Center. Make an apple or cheese strudel to take home and back. A light lunch is included for $33. A second class is offered at the same time December 9th. Bonus: there’s a great gift shop here, too!

9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – If you’ve always wanted to learn to ski or snowboard, there’s no better place than Giants Ridge! Group or individual lessons available.

7:00-9:00 p.m. – Range of Voices presents “Sing Alleluia,” a free concert at the Chisholm Baptist Church. Get into the spirit of the season with song. A second concert will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, December 10th at Gesthemane Lutheran Church in Virginia.

Saturday, December 9

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – It’s the Last Chance Shopping Extravaganza at Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia. Finish out your lists with local vendors, home businesses and more.

1:00-2:00 p.m. – It’s a Very Merry Tuba Christmas at the Rock Ridge Performing Arts Center in Virginia. This free concert highlights songs of the season with an all-tuba band!

4:00-5:00 p.m. – The Sectionals present a Jazzy Christmas at the Eveleth Community Auditorium in a free concert.

Sunday, December 10

9:00 a.m. to noon – Bump-n-Skate is back at Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia. Have fun at the Midwest’s only ice bumper cars!

2:30-4:30 p.m. – Mesabi Symphony Orchestra presents “Music Is Nostalgic” at Rock Ridge Performing Arts Center in Virginia. Tickets range from $8 to $15. Purchase them here.
