Winter Weekend Itinerary

If you’re looking for a great way to spend the weekend, one that embraces all the joy of the holiday season and the fun of winter, you’ve come to the right place! Here’s a sample itinerary for the weekend of December 1-3, right here on the Range. Be sure to check the full calendar for ALL the jingle-y events happening from Hibbing to Hoyt Lakes. Friday, December 1st

ALL DAY: With the word ‘fun’ right in the name, you can’t go wrong. Sign up for the Hibbing Chamber of Commerce’s annual funspiel at the Hibbing Curling Club. Equipment is provided, along with food and drink to purchase. Doors open at 8 a.m.

10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Craft and vendor show at Hibbing’s Mesabi Mall, 1101 E 37th St. Stock up on handmade items and all your favorite wares from home-based businesses.

A trip to Minnesota Discovery Center, the museum of the Iron Range and the largest one outside the Twin Cities, is open with exhibits for all ages. Learn about the geology, Native American history, and mines of the region. Be sure to check out the gift store, Miner’s Daughter!

7:00 p.m. – Enjoy the vocal talents of the Choralaires as they perform holiday classics at this free concert at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia.

7:30 – Regional favorites Rich Mattson and the Northstars take the stage at Eggy’s Red Garter Lounge in Eveleth.

Saturday, December 2nd

8:00 a.m. to Noon – Have all the pancakes you can eat with none other than the Grinch! Embarrass’ Timber Hall is rolling out the welcome mat for everyone’s favorite green meanie!

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Let the fun begin on opening day at Giants Ridge! Ski the mountain with the Midwest’s best snow, service and price. Don’t believe us? Give it a try and let us know how it goes!

10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Weihnachtsfest

A festival for all ages with food, candy, fireworks, sleigh rides and much more in the heart of Biwabik.

1:00-3:00 p.m. – Pet Pictures with Santa (humans welcome, too!). Support Chisholm’s animal shelter, Precious Paws, with a $10 donation for your photos with Santa. Cookies and beverages available. Find them at 101 1st Ave SW.

4:00-8:00 p.m. – A Holiday Makers’ Market with a twist! Enjoy burgers, adult beverages and mocktails as you shop this made-local boutique at the Do You in Hibbing.

Sunday, December 3rd

9:00 a.m. to Noon – Bump-n-Skate at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia and the Midwest’s only ice bumper car rink. Cost is $10.

10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Here’s a one-of-a-kind photo session at Mr. Ed’s Farm in Hibbing!

Noon-3 p.m. – Celebrate Global Fat Bike Day with the folks from Mesabi Recreation. Enjoy a casual group ride in the Sax-Zim Bog and watch for migrating raptors and boreal creatures.

3:00 p.m. – Nothing will put you in the Christmas spirit like a Feast of Carols with the choral group Voices of Reason. Enjoy their free performance at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing.
