The Wirtanen Pioneer Farm
This 1904 40-acre farm was originally homesteaded by Eli Wirtanen and today stands as an open air museum. The house, animal barn, hay barns, and guesthouse are situated on knolls surrounding the farmstead.
The house is a fine example of Finnish log construction with it’s hand hewn pine logs that were chinked with strips of pine and joints dovetailed. A sauna also sits on the site, and has been restored over the years.
Each September, the Friends of the Farm group celebrates Family Fall Farm Days, with food, handcrafted items, animals and more.
