4 Tricks to Make Halloween On the Range a Spooky Treat
The title is a mouthful, yes, but October on The Range really is a family fun treat if you know where to look! Whether it’s ghouls & ghosts, pumpkin patches, costume parties, or murder mysteries we have some hauntingly good fun lined up. So, without further ado, here are 4 tricks to make October on The Range a spooky treat!
1. Unique Pumpkin Patches, Hay Rides, & Family Fun
One of the most charming parts of October is the long standing tradition of pumpkin patch rides, finding the perfect pumpkin to bring home for carving! There are a few places that visitors can go for some wholesome Halloween fun. The first being Simek’s Farm in Meadowlands where families can enjoy hay rides, a corn maze, pumpkin picking, live music, and farm animals.
Then there’s the Minnesota Discovery Center’s Pumpkin Trolley Days which only have limited seating but take the classic “pumpkin patch experience” onto a fresh new track. A historical tour, the Cook Country Connection petting zoo, and of course their pumpkin patch at the historic Glenn location where visitors can tour an early 1900’s mining town while pumpkin picking.
2. Tour of Frights
Then of course is a brand new Tour of Frights event taking place in downtown Virginia, MN. Chestnut Street as well as residential homes will all be decked out in Halloween lights and wickedly fun décor for the Halloween Town experience from October 9th through October 23rd. Visitors can get a map of locations to visit and soak in the spooky vibes while trying out October specials throughout downtown!
3. Flashlight Clueseum
The Minnesota Discovery Center has another card up their sleeve, or perhaps it’s a clue? Their annual Flashlight Clueseum is a live theater version of the board game Clue. Attendees break into groups and explore the museum with a list of clues and must solve the riddles to find the culprit before time runs out. There are limited spaces available for this event as well, however, so getting tickets in advance is recommended!
4. Halloween Costume Parties Abound
Then there are always Halloween costume parties & contests all over: Rudy’s Bar & Grill in Aurora, Jim’s Sports Club in Chisholm, Luke’s Tavern in Biwabik, and Sawmill Saloon & Restaurant in Virginia being some of the most popular among them. But they are always a monster smash and feature some incredible costumes, so if the plan is to win a costume contest visitors should really bring their best work!
There is so much more to see and do, especially if one is really into ghost stories because The Range has quite a few and has one location that has even made the list for America’s Most Haunted spots…if one believes such things, that is. Believe it or not though, there is just something exciting about Halloween and letting ghosts and our imaginations run rampant! Chills and thrills make life more exciting, after all. So, don’t miss out on a chance at sharing in the fun with us and explore Halloween on The Range!
