Snowshoeing is a great, low-impact way to be outdoors in winter. Decent snowshoes are pretty affordable, too! If you want to try this activity before you buy, visit Minnesota Discovery Center or Giants Ridge for guided snowshoe hikes and rentals!
Cross-country skiing is another family-friendly way of staying healthy and happy! Giants Ridge has amazing cross country ski trails, and you can find short loops and ample parking at Carey Lake in Hibbing. Ski at Big Aspen north of Virginia, and around St James Mine in Aurora.
