Forest History Museum

Operated by the Minnesota Historical Society, the Forest History Center preserves the region’s logging history through exhibits, demonstrations and special events. This indoor/outdoor museum makes a great daytrip for those visiting the Iron Range. Visit the Forest History Center website here.

The Forest History Center is about 65 miles from Virginia, at 2609 County Road 76 in Grand Rapids.

Hours & Rates

Open daily June 15 through Labor Day and weekends Labor Day-June 15. Visit website for special events, year-round. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and college students, $6 for children 6-17 and free to ages 5 and under as well as MHS members.

Interesting Facts

The Forest History Center includes a welcome center with exhibits, logging camp and nature trails. At one time, Minnesota was the nation’s largest timber producer!
